Insure Your License,

Is Broad Form Coverage Right for Me?

Broad form auto insurance is a great option for many drivers.  If you need insurance and don’t have a ton of money to spend, it may be the right option for you.  We are lucky that Washington state allows insurance companies to issue this unique type of coverage. Broad Form Insurance is typically less expensive when compared to other auto insurance policies, but the coverages are completely different.  If you are thinking about broad form coverage you should weigh the pros and cons to decide if it is right for you.

Broad Form Auto Insurance
Broad form auto insurance is a type of insurance that covers only the person who is on the policy.  It insures the actual person instead of the car. Most auto insurance policies are designed to be purchased on your car, where broad form coverage insures a certain driver, basing it off of their driver’s license.  The policy is great for people who own multiple cars, because it doesn’t matter how many cars you drive, your policy premium will stay the same.  You won’t even have to call us to tell us that you’ve purchased a new car or sold and existing one.

Business Owners
Broad form auto insurance is a great option for business owners because they can insure their employees, executives or others who have access to company vehicles, but doesn’t own a car themselves.  If you have questions about this type of insurance for your company ask one of our agents if it will work for you!

Single – Unmarried Drivers
If you are unmarried, single, with no children, broad form coverage can be a great option for you.  You are less likely to have others in the car with  you and you probably don’t have multiple cars or drivers that need to be insured.

There are some things you should consider if you are thinking about buying a broad form policy:

- You and only you, are covered while driving a car you own or have permission to use.
- You are not covered if you let someone else drive a car you own. If something were to happen, you’d be held responsible legally.
- You are not covered if you are driving a motorcycle, motor home, or while driving for business use.
- You are not covered for any physical damage that happens to a car you own or drive.
-If another policy provides coverage on the car you are driving, Broad Form Named Operator Coverage will be excess of that coverage (secondary)

Insurance for Business Owners

Every small business needs insurance, that’s a fact. One small little situation can cause major loss of business and disrupt the daily activities of any business. Commercial insurance policies can help protect businesses continue with their daily activities and help protect from any losses. Without business insurance a loss can put a whole company out of business.

A Business Owners Policy is the most commonly purchased commercial insurance for small businesses. It is also known as Property and Liability, which is a packaged policy that includes liability and property insurance for a company.

Property Insurance for Businesses

Property insurance is very important for almost all small businesses. I can cover the damage from losses on property that a company owns, leases or even rents. So if your business owns the building you work in or if you lease it, you can be covered if it was damaged.  You’d also be covered (depending on the policy) for items inside the building, such as electronics and equipment, as well as furniture.  Depending on your business, the equipment you use can be very expensive and replacing those items can drain your account.

Liability Insurance for Businesses

Commercial Liability insurance can help cover your business if something went wrong and your company was involved with a lawsuit. If someone were to be injured on your business property they could sue your company for medical bills and other fees.  Business liability insurance will help provide protection against these events. This type of business insurance can also cover the costs of legal fees in litigation.

As you can see, business insurance is important. Your business is what keeps meals on the table at home, and a small bump in the road can derail your business if you don’t have it covered properly.  Speak with a qualified commercial insurance agent today to see how you can protect your business.

Auto insurance rates can vary depending on what car you drive, your driving history and a number of other factors. The average annual car insurance rates for drivers for each state were tallied up and the most expensive places were:

1. Louisiana
2. Michigan
4. Georgia
5. Oklahoma

So if you are trying to save some money on auto insurance, and have any say in where you live, steer clear of these states!

The cheapest state for car insurance came out to be on the opposite side of the country – Maine. The average auto insurance policy there costs $934 while Louisiana comes in around $2,699.

You may ask yourself where the great state or Washington comes in on this list. Well as a big surprise to many, Washington’s car insurance rates are one of the cheapest coming in at #45 out of 51! (They counted Washington, DC on the list.) So we’ve got it good compared to most of the country!
